Nigeria: Fifa U20 WWC - Falconets Beat Mexico to Reach Semi-Finals

The Super Falconets of Nigeria have reached the semi-finals of the FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup for the second successive tournament after edging stubborn Mexico 1:0 in Tokyo.
The Nigerians had to leave it late till the extra time to secure their passage to the next stage, though they were the better side all through the encounter.
Desire Oparanozie headed home in the 109th minute to earn the Falconets the deserved win.
Analysis
Nigeria signalled their intentions early when leading scorer, Francisca Ordega had a goal disallowed after 15 minutes for offside.
Oparanozie was also denied by the woodwork shortly before the break.
Mexico came stronger into the tie in the closing stages and could have won it in injury time from a corner, while Yamile Franco almost gave them the lead in extra time when she hit the bar with an angled free-kick.
However the day was to be for the Nigerians when Oparanozie struck from a cross by Ugo Njoku.
Nigeria got to the final of the last edition in 2010 before being defeated by the host, Germany in the fierce encounter.
