Two Galesburg basketball coaches are hosting a camp to help young players improve their shooting skills next month on the Knox College campus.
Galesburg High School girls coach Evan Massey and Knox College women’s coach Emily Cline are directing the Knox County Shooting School.
The camp is open to third through eighth grade girls and boys. The six shooting school sessions will be held on Wednesdays and Sundays between Sept. 16 and Oct. 3.
The Sunday dates and times are Sept. 16 and Sept. 23 from 4:30-6 p.m. and Sept. 30 from 7:30-9 p.m. The Wednesday dates and times are Sept. 19, Sept. 26, and Oct. 3 from 7:30-9:00 p.m.
The focus of the camp is on developing a fundamentally sound shooting technique through instruction, drills, and repetition. Campers will also be taught offensive skills, including handling the basketball.
Each player receives shooting school t-shirt.
The cost is $75 per camper. A $10 discount will be applied for campers who register before Sept. 11. The cost for returning campers who register before Septr 11 is $55. The cost for each additional camper from the same family is $35.
