The Debate Regarding the Exploitation of Student-Athletes Continues
The NCAA's March Madness has, once again, sparked the debate as to the exploitation of college athletes. As the tournament generates millions of dollars and soaring television ratings, people continue to question why those that produce this revenue aren't compensated adequately for their role.
Our own Michael McCann appeared on Bloomberg TV to advocate paying college athletes. You can watch the video clip here. Nice job, again, Mike.
The horrific, and truly tragic, injury to Louisville's Kevin Ware has also riled up student-athlete advocates on the lack of insurance policies--both medical in general and disability in particular once again. For example, did you know that if Ware doesn't have a multi-year scholarship Louisville would be within their legal rights to take his scholarship away if they so choose? [I have no reason to think they will, only that they would have the right to do so.] This article by CBS Sports talks about Ware's situation, and lack of insurance policies.
Fellow student-athlete advocate Marc Isenberg wrote this fine piece entitled "The Student-Athlete Disability Insurance Program isn't What the NCAA Cracks it up to be."
The New York Times is writing a piece on insurance and Ware, for which I along with several others, have been interviewed. We'll get a link to that article up as soon as it's available.

College Football Schedules
The best team will again be Alabama, who return a lot of talent from the team that won the national championship a year ago. They will have AJ McCaron, who could be one of the leaders in the race to win the Heisman Trophy. He is experienced, and has explosive playmakers (such as TJ Yeldon) around him to take the pressure off. They will also have a great defense, as Nick Saban always seems to recruit great players for that side of the ball.
Another fun team to watch will be Texas A&M, as they return Heisman winner Johnny Manziel, aka Johnny Football. He is the best dual threat quarterback in the country, and he can hurt you just as much with his legs as with his arm. He is the biggest reason why the Aggies were the only team to knock off Alabama last year, and that will be a great game once again. You will not want to miss watching Manziel play.
Oregon is always very fun to watch, even though Chip Kelly has left to coach the Philadelphia Eagles. With guys like D'Anthony Thomas, their offense should remain very explosive. They will be put up a ton of points under Mark Herzlich, with the question remaining their defense. Stanford will be a great team as well out of the Pac-12, and those two look to battle it out for the conference title and possibly a BCS title game berth. They are that good, and their game will be a must-watch.
LSU always seems to be in contention for the title, and they will be again even with a lot of losses. Les Miles is a great recruiter, and they always seem to rebuild. They will likely be very physical again, and ready to rebound from a disappointing year. Notre Dame will be one of the most watched teams in the country, as they look to bounce back from their title game loss. They return a lot of great talent defensively. Their biggest key will be the maturation of QB Everett Golson. He had a lot of great moments as a freshman, and will need to continue that strong play in his sophomore year.
There are always lots of great storylines in college football, and this season will be no exception. From the rise of the the powerhouse of Alabama, to all the other teams trying to bring them down, there will be no shortage of great games to watch for on the schedule. Is college football here yet?

Hasil Pertandingan Chelsea vs Manchester United (Replay Piala FA)
Chelsea 1 - 0 Manchester United (Gol: Demba Ba menit ke-46)
Akhirnya Chelsea berhasil melaju ke babak semi-final Piala FA musim 2012/13, setelah dalam pertandingan di Stamford Bridge mampu mengalahkan Mancheseter United dengan skor 1-0. Satu-satunya gol dari Chelsea disarangkan oleh Demba Ba pada menit ke-46.
Dengan hasil ini maka kandas sudah harapan MU untuk meraih gelar juara Piala FA di musim ini, padahal awalnya kubu MU berharap dapat menyandingan gelar juara liga (yang sangat berpeluang di menangi) dengan piala FA. Sedangkan bagi Chelsea, hasil ini cukup menggembirakan mengingat usaha mereka untuk dapat meraih minimal satu gelar juara dari dua gelar yang masih mungkin untuk dimenangi.
Kini, MU hanya tinggal menyisakan satu peluang gelar, yaitu di liga primer yang sangat besar peluang juaranya karena sampai sekarang (pekan-31) masih mempin klasemen dan unggul 15 poin dari rival sekota mereka, Manchester City. Bagi Chelsea, harapan juara mereka masih ada di Liga Europa dan Piala FA, sedangkan di liga primer, mereka masih berjuang untuk memperebutkan satu tempat di zona champions.
